Welcome to first grade at St. Ignatius. My name is Mrs. Edwards and I am excited to be your child’s teacher this year. This is my fourth year teaching at St. Ignatius. I was teaching first grade at Grey Nun Academy up until its closure where I had been a first grade teacher as well as an assistant teacher for nine years. I am from New York where I was a tenured public school teacher for seven years. I taught Kindergarten, first and second grades in upstate New York before relocating to Pennsylvania.
I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from the State University of New York at Geneseo. I earned a Master's Degree in Developmental Reading from the State University of New York at Albany. I was born in Hershey, grew up in New York State and relocated to Yardley with my husband. Together we have four children and a dog! I love to read, travel and watch my children play their sports - especially soccer!
I have a passion for first grade because it is such an important year in the development of your child’s reading, writing and math skills. My classroom is designed to instill a love for learning in all students while building a strong foundation where students gain knowledge of God, world and self. Through challenging hands on and fun filled learning experiences the children will not only grow intellectually, but also emotionally, socially and spiritually.
I am looking forward to partnering with you in the learning process.
Do small things with great love.
